Lotus Vase

The Lotus Vase is a study in balance and proportion, designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for 101 Copenhagen. Each vase is cast in fibre concrete with a hand-applied glaze that highlights natural variation in tone and texture. The layered profile draws from the petals of a lotus flower, while the elevated base references traditional stone plinths found in Japanese and Scandinavian design.

Both the Big and Small vases serve as sculptural objects or functional vessels. The larger size anchors open spaces or hallways, while the smaller scale works well on consoles, shelves, or coffee tables. Due to the material’s porosity, each vase includes an inner bag for holding water when used with fresh flowers. The collection’s muted Dark Grey finishing emphasize the raw, tactile surface that defines 101 Copenhagen’s approach to material craftsmanship.
