Description

The Alder Coffee Table by Mater is part of Patricia Urquiola’s Alder collection. Its top is made from biodegradable Matek, a proprietary material that blends renewable bioplastic with coffee shell or wood waste, allowing the table to decompose back into nature. Offered in oval and square variants in biodegradable Sand or Earth Grey, the Alder Coffee Table features a sculptural base and softly rounded edges. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, this lightweight yet durable table reflects Mater’s commitment to circular design while providing a versatile surface for lounges or living spaces.

Material

Made of wood and Matek® material (Cutting-edge technology allows Mater to make furniture from waste materials in their patented Matek® material by combining fibre with a binder. The Matek® is made by mixing e-waste with either coffee waste from Danish coffee producer BKI Kaffe or wood waste.)
Product Care

For daily care, it is recommended to dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents and harsh detergents, as these may damage the surface. Avoid placing Matek™ furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity over longer periods of time, as this can affect the appearance of the material. For tabletops, we always recommend using trivets under hot objects, such as coffee pots and cups, to prevent damage to the surface.
