Ame Rug

This handwoven rug combines undyed virgin wool with linear teak wood rods to create a tactile surface that defines and softens circulation areas in the home. Inspired by the gentle rhythm of rain and Japanese nature, it offers a warm, durable underfoot layer suited to living rooms, lounges, and quiet contemplative spaces.

The Ame Rug by GAN Rugs is part of a collection conceived by architect Kengo Kuma and is crafted on a hand loom using a precise arrangement of wool and teak wood. Its flatwoven construction and 10 mm / 0.39" thickness give it a low, stable profile that works well under furniture while still adding texture and warmth. Available in two standard sizes, 176 x 240 cm / approximately 69.3" x 94.5" and 206 x 300 cm / approximately 81.1" x 118.1", it suits both medium and larger spaces. The undyed wool keeps the palette soft and natural while the teak rods introduce subtle structure and rhythm. Each rug is made to order, reflecting careful artisanal production.
