We have specifically chosen to work with jute because the material has several unique properties. It is strong, natural and durable.

We get single crop organic jute material that we color with vegetable color to create a new type of expression and pattern of the rugs. The knots are made in a directional and spaced pattern to increase softness and make the rugs more comfortable walking barefoot.

Organic jute is a natural, plant-based fiber prized for its earthy texture, eco-friendliness, and durability, making it a popular choice for rugs. Harvested from the stalks of the jute plant, this fiber has a coarse, rustic feel and a golden, natural hue that brings warmth and an organic aesthetic to interiors. Known as the "golden fiber," jute has a natural sheen, giving it a soft luster that enhances its natural appeal.

Jute rugs are especially valued for their strength and resilience, ideal for high-traffic areas where they can withstand wear without losing shape. The fibers are woven tightly, creating a dense, durable rug that is resistant to abrasion, though it remains soft underfoot. However, jute is more susceptible to moisture than some other natural fibers, so it’s best suited for low-humidity environments and spaces where it’s unlikely to encounter spills or excess moisture.

Environmentally, jute is highly sustainable. It is grown with minimal pesticides and fertilizers and has a short growth cycle, making it both a renewable and biodegradable resource. As such, organic jute rugs are not only stylish but also environmentally conscious, adding a natural, earthy touch to interiors while supporting sustainable practices.

To keep a jute rug looking fresh and in good condition, regular and gentle care is key. Start by vacuuming it at least once a week to remove dust and debris, which can settle deep into the natural fibers. Use a brush attachment on the vacuum to avoid damaging the texture of the weave. Jute is a highly absorbent material, so it’s important to keep it dry. If a spill occurs, act quickly by blotting the area gently with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the stain deeper into the fibers and potentially damage the weave.

For more stubborn stains, use a small amount of mild soap mixed with water on a damp cloth and carefully dab the stain. Be sure to blot immediately with a dry towel after to avoid leaving any excess moisture, as jute rugs are prone to water damage and mildew when wet. Avoid steam cleaning, shampooing, or soaking the rug, as excessive moisture can weaken the jute fibers over time and cause discoloration or mold growth.

To maintain its freshness, shake out the rug every few months by taking it outside and giving it a good shake to release trapped dirt. Keep the rug in a low-humidity environment, as jute fibers can be sensitive to dampness. By following these gentle but effective care steps, you’ll preserve the natural look, texture, and durability of your jute rug for years to come.

To initiate a return, email customercase@thatcooliving.com for authorization. A 25% restocking fee and return shipping costs will be deducted from your refund. Returned items must be in their original condition, unassembled if applicable, and in the original packaging.

For damage claims, report within 2 days of delivery. Include photos of the packaging before opening, pictures of the damage, and a copy of the signed Bill of Lading (BOL) highlighting the damages.
