Description

The Earth Bar Stool by Mater is a bar-height seat designed by Eva Harlou using an innovative waste-to-value technique. Its molded seat is created from Mater Circular Material, a compound that blends recycled plastic packaging waste, post-consumer e-waste and coffee shell waste. Developed with the Danish Technological Institute and supported by the University of Copenhagen, this process turns industrial waste into durable furniture. The seat rests on a slim powder-coated steel base with an integrated footrest, giving the Earth Bar Stool a light yet solid profile. Available in finishes such as Coffee Waste Light or Dark, it fits bars, kitchen islands or contract settings. Each stool contains around 1.2–1.8 kg of waste materials, making circular design tangible.

Product Care

For daily care, it is recommended to dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents and harsh detergents, as these may damage the surface. Avoid placing Matek™ furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity over longer periods of time, as this can affect the appearance of the material. For tabletops, we always recommend using trivets under hot objects, such as coffee pots and cups, to prevent damage to the surface.
