Description

The Virta Rug by Sera Helsinki was designed by Anna Pirkola and combines organic lines with geometric structure. Hand knotted from pure Ethiopian highland sheep wool, this Virta Rug uses two pile heights, the base around 1 cm and the raised pattern about 2.5 cm, to create a sculptural surface reminiscent of islands, rocks and driftwood.

With its natural lanolin intact, the wool repels dirt and makes cleaning simple. The Virta Rug is available in standard sizes such as 170 × 240 cm and 200 × 300 cm and can be custom made. Each piece is crafted to order in Ethiopia using unprocessed wool that retains its natural hues, so slight variations in size and colour underline its artisanal character. This Virta Rug brings tactile warmth and modern Finnish design to living rooms or bedrooms.

Made of pure Ethiopian highland sheep wool. Thread, knotting, and weaving are entirely handmade. No chemicals were used.
Knotted rugs: knotting is done of wool (80%), and the warp is made of cotton (20%)
