Description
This rectangular area rug is hand tufted from 100% recycled PET fibers, creating a richly textured surface that visually evokes the topography of a major river while providing a soft, durable ground for everyday living. Designed in collaboration with Álvaro Catalán de Ocón as part of a contemporary exploration of environmental awareness, it is intended for indoor use in living spaces, lounges, or offices where comfort and sustainability are equally important.
The Indus Rug by GAN Rugs is a handmade recycled plastic rug that transforms post-consumer PET into a sculpted textile landscape for the floor. Crafted using a precise hand-tufted technique, this design emphasizes subtle relief and color variation to suggest the flow and contours of the Indus River. The rug is made from 100% recycled PET fibers, offering a tactile finish that is both resilient and suitable for regular domestic use. Its dimensions are 200 x 300 cm, equivalent to approximately 79 x 118 inches, making it well suited to anchor a seating area or large open space. The construction highlights careful craftsmanship, with edges neatly finished to maintain the clarity of the river-inspired motif over time. As part of a broader collection that references some of the world’s most polluted rivers, the Indus Rug balances graphic presence with a restrained, contemporary aesthetic. This piece works comfortably within modern, minimalist, or art-led interiors that value both design expression and sustainable materials.
