Earth Counter Stool by Mater combines a molded Matek seat made from upcycled waste with a powder-coated steel frame and integrated footrest for reliable counter-height seating. Part of the Earth Collection by Eva Harlou, it follows Mater’s circular design approach with components engineered for disassembly and materials specified for durability in residential or contract use.

Description

The Earth Counter Stool by Mater is a counter-height stool designed by Eva Harlou using a waste-to-value technique. Its seat is press-moulded from a compound that combines recycled plastic packaging waste, coffee shell waste and post-consumer e e-waste. Developed in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute and supported by the University of Copenhagen, this process transforms industrial waste into durable furniture. Mounted on a powder-coated steel frame, the Earth Counter Stool reflects classic Scandinavian design and is available in Coffee Waste Light or Dark finishes. Each stool contains between 1.2 and 1.8 kg of waste materials, supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals for responsible production. Ideal for kitchen counters or high tables, the Earth Counter Stool offers a lightweight yet solid seating option that makes circular design tangible.

Product Care

For daily care, it is recommended to dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents and harsh detergents, as these may damage the surface. Avoid placing Matek™ furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity over longer periods of time, as this can affect the appearance of the material. For tabletops, we always recommend using trivets under hot objects, such as coffee pots and cups, to prevent damage to the surface.
