The Japan Bed by Karup Design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese interiors, offering a low, balanced silhouette that promotes calm and simplicity. Crafted from solid FSC®-certified pine wood, it features clean lines and natural finishes, making it ideal for both compact apartments and open-plan rooms.

Pair the Japan Bed with tatami mats or a futon mattress for an authentic Japanese look and enhanced comfort.

US Queen Size Note: For a US queen-size mattress, we recommend the Japan Bed 160 × 200 cm model. A US queen mattress is slightly smaller and may reveal the bed slats. To achieve a seamless look, use two 80 × 200 cm tatami mats beneath your mattress, this will conceal the slats while adding to the bed’s comfort and aesthetic appeal.

Frame material: Pine wood

Wood: The knots in natural wood furniture are individual characteristics and charisma of each piece of furniture. Not two will look the same. You can expect the natural wood surfaces to change over time when permanently exposed to the climate, sunlight, and humidity fluctuations.

General wood care: do not place hot objects on the furniture, do not place candles directly on the furniture, immediately wipe off any spilled liquids with a damp cloth, regularly check if the screws and fittings are tight.

Fabric: Mixed fabric is made from 80% cotton and 20% polyester. Do only clean with a dry cloth to prevent stains.
