Description

The Luoto Rug by Sera Helsinki is part of the Saaristo collection designed by Anna Pirkola. Hand-knotted in Ethiopia, this Luoto Rug features a sculptural two-height pattern: the raised motif stands about 2.5 cm high atop a base roughly 1 cm thick, creating rhythmic lines reminiscent of rocky islets and waves. The natural palette pairs creamy white wool with warm brown accents, achieved without dyes or chemicals.

Made from pure Ethiopian highland sheep wool, the Luoto Rug retains its natural lanolin for durability and stain resistance. Standard sizes such as 170 × 240 cm are available, and custom sizes can be ordered; because of its thickness the rug is best suited to smaller formats. Each piece is handmade to order with a lead time of roughly 2–3 months. Subtle variations in colour and size celebrate its artisanal origin, making the Luoto Rug a warm and tactile centrepiece for living rooms or bedrooms.

Made of pure Ethiopian highland sheep wool. Thread, knotting, and weaving are entirely handmade. No chemicals were used.
