Description

The Conscious Chair by Mater reissues the 1958 design by Danish furniture designers Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint using contemporary sustainable materials. The seat and frame combine FSC® certified wood with Matek®, an innovative composite that blends recycled fibre‑based waste with recycled plastic, including e‑waste and coffee or wood waste. Each Conscious Chair contains approximately 2.14 kg of waste materials and comes in seven versions inspired by the original school chair. This thoughtful remake offers comfortable seating for dining rooms or workspaces while showcasing circular design and resource reuse.

Material
Product Care

Lacquered or stained wood offers a strong surface, it’s easy to clean, and requires little maintenance. For daily care, it is recommended to dust the furniture with a soft cloth. The product can also be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Always follow the wood grains and dry with a soft dry cloth immediately afterwards. Avoid using abrasive and aggressive cleaning detergents, as this will damage the surface of the lacquered or stained wood. Avoid placing wooden furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity, as this can interfere with the appearance of the wood. Oiled wood requires gentle and daily care, to avoid permanent stains. The furniture is best cleaned with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Always follow the wood grains and dry with a soft dry cloth immediately afterwards. Avoid using abrasive and aggressive cleaning detergents, as this will damage the surface of the wood treatment. Avoid placing wooden furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity, as this can interfere with the appearance of the wood. In case of more resistant stains or scratches, lightly sand the surface with sandpaper grade 220 or 240. Then wipe off with a dry soft cloth and apply a new layer of oil following the wood grains. Always follow the instructions carefully for the product purchased for retreatment.
